Bringing a bit of magic into your life.

The Faeries

One of a kind handmade faeries magically created at my wonderful century home, “Babcock Manor,” near the shores of Lake Erie, in Lake County, Ohio.

Meet the Artist

I am Mary Elizabeth Babcock — faerie artist and intuitive. My home, near the shores of Lake Erie in Northeast Ohio and affectionately known as Babcock Manor, was built in 1836, and stands as a protector of the sacred faerie wood and an Ohio watershed.

I have always been connected to the magic of the faerie realm. As a child, faeries would leave me gifts of tiny charms, crystals and the occasional sixpence coin under the rose bush that grew in my father’s garden. My arrival at Babcock Manor brought the gift of a magical faerie wood, where wise and wonderful little beings share their messages with me.

Garden Magic

These beautiful garden paths often lead me to faeries.

Let the magic begin…

Enchanted Garden

I walk and look for the magic to happen.

In these enchanted surroundings, I find myself ever called by the faeries to create.

I have always loved working with textiles, wool fibers, yarn, and painting with watercolors. Over the years, I have created many dolls and little needle-felted animals as gifts for family and friends.

Morning walks along the garden paths surrounding my home allow me to intuitively connect to a faerie at the precise moment that she is needed in the human realm. My work is guided by a bit of magic and begins in my heart.

Faeries love vintage fabrics and mindful materials

Faeries are elemental beings of nature. To honor this connection, I mindfully source materials that reduce landfill waste. I use only salvaged fabrics of natural cottons and wools to create their clothing. I source vintage fabrics in the form of early to mid-century ladies’ hankies. Each faerie’s clothing is adorned with a bit of antique French millinery trim.

Faerie hair is created from humanely sheared Teeswater Sheep. The lovely locks are hand-dyed using organic and natural dyes.

I create and paint each pair of wings individually by hand, using traditional Gansai Tambie Japanese watercolors.

Every faerie comes with a pink quartz heart pocket crystal, oracle card, special message, magical talisman, and word charm. And, of course, a good deal of faerie magic!

Each faerie is created uniquely, one at a time. I work via commission and, very occasionally, I have a faerie simply show up with no idea where she or he is needed.

When I am not busy with the faeries, I love spending time with my adult children, who are their own bit of magic in my life. My furry four-footed children include Lily the Chihuahua, Riley the English Shepherd, and the very spirited Margaux, the English Springer Spaniel. These lovely dogs are joined by two Bengal brothers, Neko and Saku, whom the faeries are not so fond of!
